Matthew Dowling MBA, CPA
Matt Dowling is a lecturer of Management and Accounting in the Lam Family College of Business. He teaches the courses Introduction to Entrepreneurship and Accounting Ethics and Professional Responsibilities. Matt was most recently, until January 2021, the President & CFO of Boudin Bakeries & Cafes, $100 million-dollar restaurant company with over 30 business units in California. Prior to this role, Matt has worked in senior executive and finance/operations positions in various industries, including restaurant, international container leasing, bicycle worldwide wholesaler/distributor, manufacturing, oil & gas and technology. He has worked for start-ups, medium-sized and large organizations and has his own consulting firm. Matt has participated in buying/selling companies and individual business units and taking a company public. He has been an owner by way of outright ownership and through stock option plans and participated in and developed multiple phantom stock plans. He has also lived in Europe and travelled extensively internationally working in the various industries mentioned above.
Matt taught in the Accounting Department at SFSU in 2003 and from 1987-1991. He has also been a lecturer in Accounting at Boston College, Univ of Maryland, UC Berkeley and UC Berkeley Extension, CSU – East Bay, Keller Graduate School of Management - Devry University and Becker Professional CPA Review. Matt was the Beta Alpha Psi faculty advisor at SFSU from 1988-1990.
